The ICA SF Teen Program is a dynamic and concentrated experience rooted in the values of ICA SF: to explore the most critical social, political, and cultural questions of our time through contemporary art.
In sessions that meet twice a month led by museum educators, teens will explore contemporary art through a balance of dialogue, hands-on explorations, and public speaking. The program offers opportunities to connect art with the community, explore creative careers and arts leadership, and build skills for thoughtful interpretation.
Funding support for our Teen Program is generously provided by the Foundation for Quality Housing Opportunities.
ICA SF has welcomed students from across the Bay Area, ranging from preschoolers to college students. ICA SF staff offers guided tours for schools, organizations, and groups of all ages.
Hear what teachers and students are saying about their visits:
“It’s fantastic to have a space where my high school students can interact so intimately with contemporary art pieces with the support of museum staff.”
“The students’ up close and personal experience with the art was powerful. They were riveted by the lessons and the background information—it was just the right level for them.”
“I really appreciate how kind and welcoming you were to me and my peers. Talking to you made me want to work at a museum.”
ICA SF offers FREE art activities and workshops related to our exhibitions for families and kids of all ages. At least once per exhibition, we organize a free community Family Day with guided workshops, programs, and crafts inspired by artwork on view.
Educational programming partners have included the Museum of the African Diaspora, the San Francisco Public Library, SFUSD and elementary level visual art teachers to develop activities inspired by our exhibitions on view.
