(AT CAPACITY) Papermaking with Trina Michelle Robinson
Join multidisciplinary artist Trina Michelle Robinson and ICA SF Assistant Curator Meghan Smith for a walkthrough of Suchitra Mattai: she walked in reverse and found their songs, followed by a free papermaking workshop inspired by the exhibition’s themes. Make your own handmade recycled paper using traditional tools and regular household items! Experiment with adding botanical dyes or dried flowers for a more unique look. Open to all ages and experience levels.
Saturday, August 17th is the second day in our Call & Response series: public programs inviting Bay Area artists and culture workers to respond to exhibitions at ICA SF through multidisciplinary workshops, activations, walkthroughs, and performances.
Trina Michelle Robinson explores the relationship between memory and migration through film, installations, print media, and archival materials. Her work has been shown at galleries and film festivals throughout the country including including the BlackStar Film Festival in Philadelphia, Museum of the African Diaspora (MoAD), a Smithsonian affiliate, the San Francisco Art Commission Main Gallery, Minnesota Street Project, Root Division and Southern Exposure in San Francisco, New York’s Wassaic Project, and the Museum of Contemporary Art – Arlington.
